Sigma conducts tests in the villages through the help of partners organisations (Sambhabana and others) for the needy students in 10th grade in Odia medium schools. Sigma test exams are scheduled between the month of January and April, typically before the students appear for their Matriculation Test exam.
Based on their Sigma test score and the matriculation marks, students are shortlisted. In the month of June, the children are called to Sigma Academy, that is based in Bhubaneswar, for a personal interaction and a final induction to the Sigma family.
The children are free to choose a college of their choice to pursue their +2 Sc education in Bhubaneswar.Â
Sigma classes are mostly conducted in the evenings except the weekends when morning classes are also conducted. The teaching is primarily focused towards the +2 CHSE board exam and the JEE Mains exams.
The children's parents should be BPL card holders. Partner organisation volunteers visit the children at their homes and validate the financial condition of the children.
The students should qualify Sigma tests and should have secured at least 70% in their matriculation exams.
The key to success in Sigma academy is self motivation. If the children are motivated to achieve higher goals in life, then Sigma is the place for them.
